24-year highs in bond yields, then a drop: Bitcoin pushes past $84K

2026-10-01

Bitcoin rose above $84,000 around the Wall Street open on Thursday, Oct 1, 2026. At the same time, US bond yields fell sharply after reaching new 24-year highs.

Cointelegraph reported that TradingView data showed BTC/USD up 0.6% on the day. On hourly charts, Bitcoin was still making higher lows, which the report calls a local uptrend.

The report links the two moves only by timing: yields fell, and Bitcoin rose. It does not say whether the drop in yields will continue or whether Bitcoin's pattern of higher lows will hold. Neither is known yet.

For anyone already holding a Bitcoin perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this story changes nothing directly. It contains no information on funding rates, trading fees or exchange liquidity. A 0.6% daily move does change unrealized profit and loss, but the cost of holding the position stays whatever each exchange's funding rate is.
