$388M Bitget Hack: CEO Blames a Third-Party Security Flaw

2026-09-28

Bitget was hacked for $388 million, and the exchange's CEO says the attackers got in through a security vulnerability at a third party, not in Bitget's own systems. Cointelegraph reported the CEO's account on Sep 28, 2026.

Some of the stolen assets have been frozen. Bitget has not said how much of the $388 million has been recovered so far.

Investigators are still looking into whether North Korea was involved. That link has not been confirmed. The report does not name the third party or describe the vulnerability.

For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, the report gives no direct change. It says nothing about funding rates, trading fees, order-book liquidity or withdrawals on the exchange. Based only on what is known now, the answer for perp holders is: nothing directly.
