The eCash network, a Bitcoin fork proposed by Paul Sztorc, has gone live. Holders who qualify now have an ECX balance equal to their Bitcoin balance. Cointelegraph Magazine reported this on Nov 7, 2026, in a piece by staff editor Christina Comben, edited by Andrew Fenton.
The report says the launch came in the period between the Binance hack and the US midterm elections. Sztorc's fork had been expected for a long time before it launched.
The report does not settle the main practical questions. It is still unclear where ECX can be traded and what holders can actually do with it.
Perp Desk tracks what perpetual futures cost to hold on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC and OKX. For someone who already holds a Bitcoin perpetual position on one of these exchanges, the report changes nothing directly. It does not say that any of the four will list ECX, credit it to users, or open an ECX contract, and it does not mention funding, fees or liquidity. If any of the four lists ECX, its funding and fees can be measured. Until then, there is no ECX data to measure.
