Singapore's crypto economy grew 55.4% to $284 billion, according to a Cointelegraph report published on Sep 30, 2026. The wider region contracted over the same period. That puts Singapore on the opposite side of the trend from its neighbours.
Institutions drove most of the growth. Activity on institutional platforms in Singapore rose 94%, which is much faster than the country's overall figure.
Elsewhere in the region, the pattern looked different. The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam stood out for small-value peer-to-peer transfers rather than large institutional flows. The report as given does not say how much each of these countries grew or shrank. It also does not say which period the figures cover or where the data came from.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The report does not mention funding rates, trading fees, derivatives volumes or any of these exchanges. It measures regional on-chain and platform activity, not what a perp costs to hold.
