Metaplanet is set to acquire a 93.7% stake in Super League in a deal linked to 2,100 BTC. Cointelegraph reported the deal on Oct 19, 2026. Sam Bourgi wrote the article and Robert Lakin edited it.
The report gives one reason for the deal: it would give Metaplanet access to US capital markets. Once there, Metaplanet intends to issue preferred stock and spend the money on more Bitcoin.
The report leaves several things open. It does not say how the 2,100 BTC is used in the deal, when the deal is expected to close, or what approvals it needs. It also gives no size or timing for the preferred stock offerings or for any Bitcoin purchases that follow.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. It is an equity deal plus a stated plan to raise money later. It does not touch funding rates, trading fees or order-book liquidity on any of these exchanges. No purchase amount or date has been announced, so the plan has no measurable effect on the cost of holding a perp today.
