Scammers took about $2 million in Ether from a bridge built for a fake version of the GIWA blockchain, Cointelegraph reported on Sep 28, 2026. The decentralized exchange DYORSWAP said that at first it believed the fake network was GIWA's real mainnet.
GIWA is linked to Dunamu, the company that operates the Upbit exchange. GIWA warned that its mainnet had not launched, so any network presented as the GIWA mainnet was not the real one.
DYORSWAP said it has paid more than 200 ETH in compensation. The report does not say who was behind the fake network, and it does not say whether any of the stolen funds have been recovered.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The report names none of these venues and says nothing about ETH funding rates, trading fees or order-book liquidity. The loss hit a bridge tied to a fake network, not perpetual futures markets.
