Standard Chartered has moved its $2 trillion stablecoin forecast to 2030. Cointelegraph reported the change on Oct 14, 2026, in an article by Sam Bourgi, edited by Robert Lakin.
According to the bank, the total value of the stablecoin market has stalled, but the number of transactions keeps rising. Its reading is that the stablecoins already in circulation are changing hands more often. In its view, the growth in activity is not coming from newly issued supply.
The bank splits stablecoins into four separate markets. It says USDC leads in payments and in AI transactions. It also says issuers are competing harder over the yield earned on their reserves. The report does not name the other markets or say which issuers are competing.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. A bank's long-range forecast does not set funding rates, trading fees or order book depth on any of these exchanges. The report says more about how stablecoins are used than about what it costs to hold a position today.
