Crypto exchange Bitget lost $388 million in crypto in a security breach last week. Its CEO, Gracy Chen, has said she is "not very optimistic" about recovering the funds. She is not sure the company can freeze or get back all of the assets taken.
Chen pointed to the 2025 Bybit hack as a "good reference point" for what Bitget can expect. In that case, only a small percentage of the stolen funds was frozen or recovered.
Cointelegraph published the report on Sep 29, 2026. Turner Wright wrote it and Sam Bourgi reviewed it. The report does not say how much, if any, of the $388 million has been frozen so far.
For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, the report gives no direct change to track. It does not mention funding rates, trading fees, liquidity, or whether positions or withdrawals were affected. Based on what is known so far, the answer is: nothing directly.
