4th high-profile exit: White House crypto council chief Witt leaves

2026-10-15

Patrick Witt is leaving his job as executive director of the White House Crypto Council for a position in the private sector. Cointelegraph reported the move on Oct 15, 2026.

This is the fourth high-profile departure from the advisory group. With Witt gone, the council no longer has anyone in its top role.

The report does not name the company Witt is joining or say who will replace him. It also gives no date for when he leaves and no reason beyond the new private-sector job.

For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. A staff change at a White House advisory body does not change how these exchanges calculate funding, what they charge in fees, or their margin rules. Nothing in the report points to an effect on any of them.
