Investment company SWI Group has raised about $900 million. It plans to use the money to expand its data center and AI computing capacity. That capacity includes a cryptocurrency mining operation that was previously connected to the FTX exchange.
FTX's link to mining goes back to before its collapse. The exchange bought a 20% stake in Genesis Digital Assets. In November 2022, FTX declared bankruptcy.
Cointelegraph published the report on Oct 12, 2026. It was written by Turner Wright and edited by Sam Bourgi. The report does not name the investors behind the $900 million. It also does not say what happens to the former FTX stake or whether the site will keep mining crypto alongside its AI work.
For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The story concerns company funding and data center plans, not exchange funding rates, trading fees or order-book liquidity. None of these four venues is named in the report.
