Circle, the company that issues stablecoins, wants to expand into roughly 40 developing markets. Jeremy Allaire, Circle's CEO and chairman, gave the figure. Cointelegraph reported it on October 17, 2026.
The report links the plan to rising demand for stablecoins in four regions: Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. These are the only areas the report names. It does not list any countries.
Several things are still unknown. The report does not say which markets Circle will enter first, when it expects to enter them, or how it will do it. It also does not say whether any regulator has approved the plan.
If you already hold a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this news changes nothing directly. The report does not mention any of these exchanges, and it says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on them. This is a statement of plans from one stablecoin issuer, so there is no measured effect on what it costs to hold a perpetual position today.
