Convicted, appeal lost, no pardon yet: SBF eyes the Supreme Court

2026-10-14

Former FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried wants the US Supreme Court to hear his criminal case. His lawyer has set out the case for review, Cointelegraph reported on October 14, 2026, in an article by staff writer Turner Wright.

This comes after a series of losses. Bankman-Fried was convicted in 2023, and in 2026 a Second Circuit court rejected his appeal. He is also waiting on a decision about a presidential pardon, which the report says may never come.

The Supreme Court has not yet agreed to take the case. If the justices grant review, the report says a decision could come as early as June 2027. The available text does not describe the specific legal arguments his lawyer is making.

For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The story is about a court filing in a case that ended FTX's run years ago. It does not alter funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on those four exchanges.
