Coinbase says it has finished integrating the derivatives exchange Deribit. Cointelegraph reported the news on Oct 7, 2026, in an article by Sam Bourgi, edited by Robert Lakin.
Eligible US institutions can now trade Deribit's options and perpetual futures through Coinbase. The report presents this as a regulated way into global crypto derivatives markets that US customers have mostly been unable to use.
Retail is not included yet. The article says options for US retail customers are expected later this year. It does not say whether retail customers will also get perpetual futures, or when.
The report gives no figures on trading volume, fees, funding rates or how many customers qualify. It also does not explain how Coinbase decides which customers are eligible.
If you already hold a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. Your funding, fees and order books stay the same. The article has no data on whether new US institutional flow into Deribit will affect funding or liquidity on other venues, so any effect is unknown for now.
