Qivalis, a group of European banks, has received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) authorization from the Dutch central bank. Cointelegraph reported the news on Oct 14, 2026. The license is a step toward the group issuing a stablecoin priced in euros.
Qivalis says the authorization lets it launch the euro-denominated token. It plans to start issuing it within the next few months. The launch still depends on the group meeting further requirements under MiCA, the European Union's crypto rules.
Several things are still unknown: the exact launch date, which banks are in the consortium, what the token will be called, and which exchanges, if any, will list it. The report gives no details on supply, reserves or trading pairs.
For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this news changes nothing directly. The token has not been issued yet, so there is no new collateral, margin asset or trading pair to affect funding rates, fees or liquidity today. That would only change if the stablecoin launches and an exchange adds it, and neither has happened.
