In September, Kalshi's 15-minute gold markets brought in an estimated $5 million in trading fees. Equivalent Ether markets brought in an estimated $2.6 million, so gold made close to double. Cointelegraph reported the figures on October 7, 2026.
Gold also led on volume, with 542 million contracts against 318 million for Ether. The gold markets only went live in August, so this lead came within weeks of launch. Bitcoin's 15-minute markets were still well ahead of both.
Some things are not known. The report gives no exact Bitcoin figures, and the fee numbers are estimates, not reported totals. It also does not say why traders chose gold over Ether in these short markets.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. Kalshi is not one of the four venues this site tracks. The report says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on any perpetual futures exchange. What it shows is where some short-term trading activity went in September, on a different platform.
