Hayes: US Money Printing for AI and Debt Could Lift Crypto

2026-10-02

Arthur Hayes, chief investment officer at the Maelstrom fund, said US policymakers could push cryptocurrency prices up by printing more money. In his view, that money would be created to support AI and to pay for government debt. Cointelegraph reported his comments in a recap of the CONNECT Seoul event published on Oct 2, 2026.

This is Hayes's view of what could happen. It is not a policy announcement. The recap gives no figures, dates or official statements showing that such money printing is planned or has started.

Other speakers at CONNECT Seoul talked about the advantages Wall Street firms have as they move onchain. The material available to us does not name these speakers or say what each of them argued.

For someone who already holds a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. No exchange changed its funding rates, fees or liquidity because of these remarks. It is a conference talk about possible policy, not an event that changes what a position costs to hold.
