Hot Inflation vs Bitcoin Miners: Shares Fall Up to 13%

2026-10-15

Shares of Bitcoin mining companies fell by as much as 13% on Wednesday. TeraWulf, Core Scientific, Cipher Mining and IREN each dropped more than 12%.

The losses came on the worst day for US stocks since July. Inflation data came in higher than expected, and that pushed down technology and AI infrastructure companies. Bitcoin miners were among the companies hit.

The report, published on Oct 15, 2026, does not give a separate reason for each miner's drop. It also does not say whether the selling continued after Wednesday.

For anyone already holding a perpetual futures position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this story changes nothing directly. It is about miner stocks traded on Wall Street, not crypto derivatives, and it reports no change to funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on any of these exchanges.
