Hyperliquid's native token, HYPE, rose about 20% on Thursday, according to Cointelegraph. The jump came after Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), the company that owns the New York Stock Exchange, announced plans for perpetual futures in the United States. Cointelegraph's headline says the move put HYPE close to its all-time high.
ICE is not doing this alone. Its partner is Trade[XYZ], and Cointelegraph reports that billionaire Wall Street investor Stanley Druckenmiller is one of Trade[XYZ]'s investors. The headline describes the plan as US Hyperliquid perps. The report was published on October 29, 2026.
Much is still unknown. The report does not give a launch date, a list of contracts, fees, or which US regulators would oversee the product. It also does not say how much Hyperliquid itself is involved beyond what the headline states.
For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, nothing changes directly. No new product is live, and the announcement does not change any exchange's funding schedule, fee table or margin rules. If you hold a HYPE perp, Thursday's price move is what hit your margin and unrealised P&L. Whether funding on HYPE contracts changed afterward will show in the rates themselves, not in this announcement.
