iPhone Safari attack stealing crypto? SlowMist can't

2026-09-25

An attack through Safari on the iPhone has led to recent security warnings. So far it has not been tied to any confirmed theft of cryptocurrency. That is where SlowMist's investigation stood in a Cointelegraph report published on Sep 25, 2026.

The Safari sample SlowMist analyzed is aimed at iOS versions 18.4 through 18.6.2. It relies on security flaws that have already been patched.

Two things are still not known. One is whether the attack works on iOS 26.5, which has not been verified. The other is whether any crypto has actually been stolen through it. SlowMist has not confirmed a theft.

For someone already holding a perpetual position, this changes nothing directly. The report does not name Bitget, Bybit, MEXC, OKX or any other exchange. It also reports no change to funding rates, trading fees or liquidity. It is a device-security story, not a market-structure one.
