France's National Assembly approved a crypto tax amendment on Friday, and the vote was close. The amendment covers certain swaps from crypto into stablecoins. If it takes effect, those swaps could become taxable events from 2027.
Two more measures are on the table, but neither has passed. One is an exit tax. The other would require reporting on self-custodial wallets. Both are still being considered.
The report, published October 19, 2026, does not give the vote count, the exact wording of the amendment, or which stablecoin swaps it covers. It also does not say when lawmakers will decide on the exit tax and wallet reporting proposals. All of that is still unknown.
For someone who already holds a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, nothing changes directly today. The amendment is about crypto-to-stablecoin swaps, says nothing about perpetual futures, and could only start applying in 2027. Funding rates, trading fees and liquidity on these exchanges are not part of the story.
