Jeonbuk Bank in South Korea has reportedly started lending to corporate customers who put up Bitcoin as collateral. The bank is a subsidiary of JB Financial Group. Cointelegraph published the report on Oct 12, 2026.
Jeonbuk Bank does not keep the pledged Bitcoin itself. A third-party custodian holds it. The report does not say which company that custodian is.
The report leaves several things out. It gives no loan amounts, interest rates, collateral ratios or number of borrowers. It also does not say what happens to a loan if the value of the pledged Bitcoin falls, or whether the product will be offered to anyone other than business customers.
If you already hold a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing for you directly. It is a lending product from a bank for companies. The report does not mention any exchange, funding rate, trading fee or derivatives market, so it gives no reason to expect a change in what a perp costs to hold.
