Michael Saylor's Strategy spent $176.3 million last week to buy back about 1.77 million shares of STRC, one of its preferred stocks. In the same week, it spent $28.7 million to buy 334 Bitcoin.
That means the company spent more than six times as much on STRC buybacks as it did on Bitcoin. Cointelegraph reported the figures on Oct 5, 2026.
The report gives the amounts and the share count. It does not say why Strategy chose to spend more on the buybacks than on Bitcoin, or whether it will keep this split in future weeks.
For someone already holding a perpetual futures position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The report says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on any of these exchanges, and a 334 BTC purchase does not change what a perpetual position costs to hold.
