Strategy's Bitcoin buying slows again: 250 BTC for $21.5M

2026-10-12

Strategy, the company led by Michael Saylor, bought 250 Bitcoin last week for $21.5 million. Its total holdings are now 848,250 BTC. Cointelegraph reported the purchase on Oct 12, 2026.

This is the second week in a row that Strategy's weekly purchase has been smaller than the week before. The report does not give the sizes of the earlier purchases. It also gives no reason for the slowdown.

Strategy also says it still holds a cash reserve of $4.88 billion. The report does not say whether any of that cash will go toward more Bitcoin. It also does not say whether the company's weekly buying will continue.

For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this news changes nothing directly. The story is about one company buying Bitcoin outright. It says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on perpetual markets, so it gives no reason to expect a change in what it costs to hold a position.
