Ledger, the hardware wallet maker, has told resellers and distributors in six Southeast Asian countries and Hong Kong to stop selling its devices. It also asked them to take the wallets off their shelves. Cointelegraph reported the request on Oct 13, 2026.
The reason is reports that some devices were tampered with. Ledger is investigating those reports, and investigators are trying to find out where the tampering took place.
Much is still unknown. The report we have does not name the six countries. It does not say how many devices may be affected, whether any buyer lost funds, or when sales could resume.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The story is about physical wallets for self-custody, and the report does not mention any exchange. Nothing in it points to a change in funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on these four venues.
