Thai Crypto ETFs vs Existing Options: CoinShares Sees Slow Start

2026-10-15

Thailand's new rules for Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds take effect on Friday. They open the way for the country's first crypto ETFs. Cointelegraph reported the story on Oct 15, 2026.

CoinShares does not expect a strong launch. The firm says inflows will probably be modest at first because investment options that already exist will compete with the new funds for the same demand.

The rules are part of Bangkok's push to give investors more access to regulated digital asset products. The report does not say how much money the funds might attract or which products will compete most with them. It also does not give a launch date for any specific fund.

For someone already holding a perpetual futures position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The story is about spot-style ETF rules in one country. It contains no information on funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on these exchanges.
