VanEck, the asset manager, has said it will not go ahead with its planned exchange-traded fund tied to Lido staked Ether. It is now asking to withdraw the application, Cointelegraph reported on Oct. 15, 2026.
The fund was built to give investors exposure to Lido's liquid staking token. VanEck first filed an S-1 registration statement for it in October last year, so the withdrawal comes about a year after that filing.
The report does not say why VanEck made the decision. It also does not say whether the firm plans a different staking product, or whether regulators played any part. Those questions are still open.
For someone already holding a perpetual position, this changes nothing directly. The fund never launched, so no ETF money is leaving the market, and the report says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or liquidity on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX. If funding on Ether perpetuals moves, the cause will show up in the rates we measure, not in this filing.
