10M CYS minted without authorization: Cysic halts its bridge

2026-10-18

Cysic has halted its crypto bridge after someone minted 10 million CYS tokens without authorization. Cointelegraph reported the incident on Oct 18, 2026. The tokens were issued on BNB Smart Chain, and Cysic says it is investigating.

According to Cysic, the problem affected only the part of the bridge that processes messages and mints tokens. The project says its mainnet and its other operational systems were not affected.

The dollar cost of the incident is not known yet. Cysic says the number of tokens minted does not by itself show how much value was lost. It has not said who made the mint, how it happened, or when the bridge will reopen.

For anyone already holding a perpetual position, the report gives nothing that changes funding, fees or liquidity on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX. It does not mention any exchange, any CYS perpetual contract, or any change in trading conditions. Based on what has been reported, the direct effect on existing perpetual positions is nothing.
