Binance has been hit by a $6.3 billion hack, which Cointelegraph calls a record. The publication followed the story as it happened, from the first onchain alerts to the point where $3 billion of the funds had been frozen. Its report was published on Oct 30, 2026.
The security investigation is still growing. Cointelegraph's report does not say who was behind the attack or how it was done.
Withdrawals on Binance are paused. Co-CEO Richard Teng said the exchange aims to restart them within 40 hours. He also said Binance plans to publish a full proof-of-reserves report by Monday.
Several things are still unknown: what happens to the funds that have not been frozen, whether withdrawals restart on that timeline, and what the reserves report will show.
For anyone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, the four exchanges this site measures, nothing changes directly. The report says nothing about funding rates, fees or liquidity on those exchanges, and Binance is not one of the venues we track. If our next readings show any change, we will report the numbers we measure and not guess at the cause.
