Binance Pay is opening a way for overseas visitors to Japan to pay with Tether USDt (USDT) at shops that accept PayPay. The service starts on Wednesday, according to a Cointelegraph report published on Sep 30, 2026. It is limited to eligible users visiting from outside Japan.
The payments go through HIVEX. The visitor pays in USDT, and the merchant is paid in yen, so the shop does not hold any crypto. The report says the service covers the vast majority of merchants that support PayPay, but not all of them.
The report does not say which users qualify as eligible, what the fees are, what exchange rate is used to turn USDT into yen, or whether there are spending limits. It also does not say which PayPay merchants are left out. Those details are not yet known from this story.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. It is a Binance payments feature for spending in shops. It is not a change to trading on any of those four exchanges, and the report says nothing about funding rates, trading fees or order-book liquidity.
