NEAR Intents was hacked for $3.8 million. On Friday, the protocol's general manager, Alex Shevchenko, said the team knows who the attacker is and spoke to that person directly.
The protocol has given the hacker 48 hours. Cointelegraph reported the story on Oct 2, 2026.
Several things have not been made public. NEAR Intents has not named the person it says it identified. It has not said exactly what it wants the hacker to do within the 48 hours, or what it will do if the deadline passes. There is also no public explanation yet of how the attack worked, and no word that any of the $3.8 million has been returned.
For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, Bybit, MEXC or OKX, this changes nothing directly. The report does not mention any of these exchanges, any perpetual futures market, or any change to funding rates, fees or liquidity.
