Bitget breach now $388M, not $352M: why the number grew

2026-09-25

Bitget has put the assets affected by its security breach at about $388 million. The earlier reported figure was $352 million. The exchange gave the new total in an updated incident report, and Cointelegraph reported it on September 25, 2026.

The breach was announced on Thursday. The total went up by roughly $35 million after assets on Zcash and TRON were analyzed. The update is about how much was affected. It does not describe a second incident.

The report as covered does not explain how the breach happened. It also does not say whether customer balances were affected, whether anything was recovered, or who was behind it. None of those points has been addressed publicly in the material available here.

For someone already holding a perpetual position on Bitget, the report says nothing about changes to funding rates, trading fees, margin rules or order-book liquidity. Based on what has been published, nothing changes directly for an open position. Perp Desk will keep measuring holding costs on Bitget the same way it does on Bybit, MEXC and OKX.
